Final project

So my final project is still going to be the first person simulation of running a hurdle race. It will also involve a small audio piece of what it sounds like during a race both mentally and the actual outside noise from the race such as hitting hurdles and other runners. It will be projected on a big screen with some other elements to add to the first person experience. The only problem I think I will have is how exactly I will take the video. I am going to have to find a way to mount the camera on my head or chest inorder to get the actually first person view.

Final Project possibilities

Well we have done several projects up to this point and i have liked pretty much all of them. The only one I really didn't enjoy was the Flash animation piece. The biggest reason I didn't seem to like this piece was because it was so much information to learn in a limited amount of time. My favorite pieces would be the Google sketch up piece that I drew up and the sound clip that I put together.
For my final project I may try and attempt a somewhat interactive piece combine some sort of sound bite with a video feed that is showing the individual in first person what it looks like to run a hurdle race. I think this would make for an interesting expierence, because not too many people have actually raced over hurdles. The sound bite would be of either surrounding noise at a track meet or like the internal thinking depicting what is going through the mind of the runner as they are running.

Internet assignment

After much thought I have decided to put together a website that depicts my love for track and field and especially my love for the hurdles. I will try and put together different pages and links that will either take the individuals to other sites that have past and present hurdlers or to pictures of past and present hurdlers. I will also try to bring into play rollover images that show similarities between different hurdlers and their style of running. I plan for my website to try and attract the track junkies and hurdle junkies alike.

Flash Update 3

So my final piece is done and i must say it looks a lot like the game city jumper. However, it resembles more of an intro than an actual interactive game. This has been by far the hardest thing for me to try and learn, but i believe that if I spent more time with the flash system I would begin to like it more and more.

Flash Update

Ok so I can officially say now that flash is the hardest thing I have had to work with in a long time. My project has not changed much from my last entry, the viewer is still watching as this "dude" jumps over objects on his walk/ run through the city. It seems to give off the impression of an old nintendo game now, I compare it to a paper boy type of animation with the only difference being the viewer is not controlling the "dude".

Flash Movie

So I have come up with this idea for a flash movie after watching several hours of youtube. I am going to try and put together a piece about a guy named Will who is an extreme walker. We will follow him on one of his many trips through the city. He will be jumping bench to bench diving over big gaps and just having one heck of a trip through the city.

Times Square Piece

This piece was very creative and I liked how he described it as an Urban art piece. The piece reflected the every day noise of the city, being very suttle during the rush of the day crowd but much louder after the big crowds had left for the evening. The sound would seem very overwhelming to me. It reflects our projects in that he was putting together sounds and having them reflect in its own environment. It is a very interesting concept that I would enjoy going to see.

Digital piece 2

So I decided not to use either one of my original ideas that i discussed previously. What I chose instead was to take a few clips from my class lectures and tie them together to create an extremely random loop of things that can be heard while in class. The piece will be like my original ideas in that it should be listened to with headphones because it will move back and forth from left to right and the volumes will change from high to low. When listening to the piece it gave me a somewhat of a dizzy feeling. I don't expect that the rest of the class will get this feeling but what I hope the do get is their own ears hearing different things that the people could be saying. This could be an interesting discussion on Wed. 

Digital Piece

There are currently two different ideas that I am playing around with. The first is the idea of relaxation. The individuals listening to this piece would be hearing it through headphones because the sounds/ voices will be heard differently in both ears. The tones and voices were put together using a digital recorder and garageband 08. The second idea that I am playing with is trying to evoke the feeling of being alone. This will be listened to in the same manner as the previous idea and is composed in the same way as well. In addition i would like for the individuals to listen to the piece inside the darkroom. I would like them to listen to it in the darkroom in order to get the full affect of being alone.

Macs? I am fairly comfortable with using a Mac because of the Art-124 class last semester

Digital Cameras? I am very comfortable with digital cameras because i own one and used it a lot in the Art 124 class.
